I am a PhD student at Yale University, where I study anthropology. I recently earned a MA in social anthropology from SOAS, University of London. I graduate cum laude with an honors BA from New York University, with a double major in anthropology and Middle East and Islamic Studies in 2009.
Experience
I have tutored and provided academic advising to students from elementary school through college for the past 5+ years. I believe that students are most successful when they are self-motivated about their studies. No matter the assignment, I help students improve their critical thinking skills and foster a sense of confidence in their work. I am available for tutoring in most subjects and standardized test preparation (GRE, SAT, NY State Regents, etc.). I specialize in writing, English, history, social studies, philosophy, anthropology/sociology, psychology. I advise students on developing research and study/organizational skills. I also consult with students (and their parents) on college and graduate school admissions strategies, including essay development and editing. While my method is specifically tailored to individual needs, in general it includes:

Hobbies
I enjoy riding my bicycle, drawing, and cooking, but traveling is my true passion. I also practice yoga and like to spend time outdoors as often as possible!
